Comparison pictures: June 2014 - June 2015

This comparison picture was long overdue! After putting the pictures side by side, all mixed emotions were gone! I was and am still proud of my progress! Weekly hot oil treatments with organic and natural oils, and scalp massages definitely made my hair grow. Weekly deep conditioning sessions, moisturizing and sealing my hair kept my hair moisturized. Low manipulation hairstyles (flat twists out and braids out) gave my hair the environment it needed to grow. Maintaining a healthy diet was also key. So far, maintaining my hair is not as complicated as I thought it was going to be. Applying relaxer is still a challenge though, no matter how many YouTube videos I watch. I'm still nursing a setback from the back of my head and thankfully it's catching up with the rest of my hair.

Although I cut my hair in May of last year, I do not have a presentable picture from May to make a decent comparison. That is the reason why I am showing a picture from June 2014. But there was little difference in how it was the month prior as I wasn't doing much to my hair. I was greasing my scalp once in a while and washing my short hair every two weeks. I was still using the flat iron AND the curling iron on a weekly basis. No deep condition, no hot oil treatment, no improvement in my diet, not exercising.. I started doing all of these between June and July of last year.

I'm happy I didn't need to buy any expensive products that might not have given me the result I'm enjoying today. Everything that was incorporated was very simple, and consistency and patience made my hair grow.

I will continue to be consistent and improve my hair routine if need be. But in the meantime, enjoy the pictures and happy hair journey!
