Co-washing with Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner
Before I started my research on how to cleanse my hair with a regular conditioner, I thought only ladies with natural hair could, that it wasn't something for relaxed girls like me. Since some natural texture needs more moisture to become manageable, it only made sense to me that ladies with natural hair would co-wash more often than relaxed ladies. Was I wrong! Some relaxed ladies need to co-wash as well, and the conditioner doesn't need to be marketed as a "cleansing conditioner" in order for it to cleanse your hair.
Even before I started to relax my hair, my 4c hair was always dry, and my scalp covered with dandruff. It would become moisturized and manageable when it was time to wash it again :) which would be after two weeks or a month. When I started to relax my hair, that didn't change. So with my hair history, I decided to try cleansing my hair with a regular conditioner.
In one of my previous posts, I talked about how I needed a purpose for my Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner after I found out I could not use it as a deep conditioner. I also talked about how it contains similar ingredients to Wen's cleansing conditioners. After I decided to cleanse my hair with Tresemme Naturals, I fell more in love! My hair became soft, moist and manageable. I used it almost the same way I would use a Wen's cleansing conditioner. Since I don't have the pump to measure the quantity my hair needs, I make sure that my hair is thoroughly wet, saturate it with a handful of the conditioner, mixing in a little water to dilute it so it can be evenly distributed through my whole hair and at the same time reach my scalp. I rinse and repeat. I may use a little less conditioner the second time. I rinse it out again and continue with the rest of my wash day routine.
The softness was so unbelievable I couldn't stop touching my hair and talking about it for days the first time I co-washed! I was really impressed because my hair had never felt that soft before.
I had an unsuccessful experience with co-washing prior to that only because the consistency of the conditioner I used was very loose and runny, comparing to the thickness of Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner.
Thanks to this conditioner, I am finding the world of co-washing to be a beautiful place!
