REGIMEN AFTER MY HAIR CUT - part 3

Creating a hair regimen is finding the products that your scalp and hair like and come up with ways to use them to help you achieve your hair goal, whether it be health, length, or both. To me, both health and length were (and still are) my goals. So I bought everything that I could afford at the time that will make me grow strong and beautiful hair. Before beginning my hair journey,  my hair used to thrive on the ORS Olive Oil line. So I bought everything I would need in that line to care for my pixie cut. Then, I looked up the ingredients on the Wen's products I ordered last year and noticed some ingredients like aloe leaf juice, coconut oil, chamomile flower extract and rosemary extract would actually be good for my hair. I used to use olive oil to soften my hair and give it shine. So, I created the following regimen for the summer and fall based on previous good experiences and what I have learned from the hair community on YouTube and many hair websites/forums/blogs: ...

REGIMEN AFTER MY HAIR CUT - part 2

In my last post I talked about a guide I found on Wikihow that helped me build my hair regimen. Here are the products I have incorporated into my hair regimen so far: 1.        Shampoo once a week I don’t shampoo once a week, I co-wash with Wen cleansing conditioners since I live in a dry environment and my hair is also dry. I have several Wen conditioners that I’m trying to use up - pomegranate, fig and lavender (which is my favorite so far) – until I find a cleansing conditioner I can use permanently. 2.        Weekly light protein treatment for 30 minutes for stronger hair  I use the ORS Olive Oil Replenishing Conditioner for 45 minutes to an hour every week. 3.        Deep conditioning for 45 minutes or overnight The night before wash day, I deep condition with coconut oil and leave it on my hair overnight. The next day, I rinse my hair then start co-washing. 4. ...

REGIMEN AFTER MY HAIR CUT – part 1

When I used to have longer hair, my regimen consisted of: shampoo and conditioner (or hair masque 2 weeks prior to having a relaxer), leave-in and setting mousse before setting my hair on magnetic rollers, air dry then 5 to 10 minutes under a hooded dryer, remove rollers, flat-iron new growth if I have any, grease scalp, wrap my hair and use a sheen spray for shine. I was using ORS products at the time. I did not do any deep conditioning before or after I shampoo, did not know anything about co-washing, rinses, hot oil treatments… I was pretty much doing the very basics just to keep my hair decent looking. After getting my pixie haircut, my regimen was pretty much the same, except that I did not use any rollers because my hair was too short. I would just blow dry and flat-iron. I still did not know that I had to use a heat protection hair serum to protect my hair from heat damage. I would grease my scalp with Palmer’s Olive Oil Growth Therapy every other night and tie my hair down...

Introduction

I’m so excited about this blog! No other journey has been so rewarding and fulfilling! So, as the title of my blog states, I will be sharing all my experiences and acquired knowledge on my hair journey. I can’t promise it’s going to be a professional blog because I’m a beginner myself when hair care is concerned. And that is the reason why I’m starting this blog, because it seemed to me most of the blogs out there are from people who are well on their way to achieving their hair goals.  There seems to be nothing for people with short hair focusing on growing healthy long hair. So I wanted to share that caring for hair while reaching for your goal is not as scary as some might make it seem. Caring for your hair shouldn't be scary to the point where you have to relay it to someone else, unless, that other person is a professional who cares for your hair health. Hair care should be part of the process of loving yourself as a person. The same way you want to eat right and exer...
