MY FACIAL SKINCARE ROUTINE
In my last post, I talked about how a skincare routine is not limited to the skincare products you use but also depends on how you're treating your body and what you entertain in your environment.
As with my hair products, I switch up my skincare products all the time. Although I find myself leaning towards more DIYs these days, I will be sharing the skincare products that I've been using so far.
CLEANSERS.-

A few years ago, I used to use Clean & Clear and Neutrogena. I loved how they left my skin feeling fresh. I'm currently using this generic brand from Jean-Coutu Pharmacy. But I've gotten my best cleansing results from a mix of water and baking soda. I would mix 1 part of baking soda with 3 parts of water. I'd pour some of the solution on a flat cotton pad to gently rub my face with, then rinse my face with warm water. My face is never left stripped or dry.
TONER.-
The only toner I've ever used in my skincare routine is another DIY, a mix of water and apple cider vinegar. Using a flat cotton pad, I gently rub that over my face and let it dry before I moisturize. Although I don't use it regularly, it has improved the way my skin looks a lot as it evens it out and makes it clearer.
MOISTURIZERS.-

I've used a lot of various products to moisturize my face. I've used body lotion, shea butter (by itself), olive oil, coconut oil, and other facial creams. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to use body lotion on my face back then so I stopped doing that mostly because the perfume would bother me. Shea butter was working fine on my face this summer, leaving my face soft and moisturized without any breakouts. But come fall, the smell started to bother me so I stopped using it. I've been using Avon's Anew Vitale Day Cream off and on, but it breaks me out. So I've been using Fruit of the Earth's 100% Pure Aloe Vera Gel. It's a very light moisturizer and it doesn't cause breakouts.
EYES AND LIPS.-
I used to use coconut oil around my eyes but it was too heavy, no matter how small the amount I'd use. I'm currently using Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair eye serum and I love it. I've been using it off and on but I could always count on it to revive my eyes the next day after having an exhausting day the day before. On my lips, I either use vaseline, a generic brand of lip balm or EOS lip balm.
I do use a peel-off mask from time and time. When I do, I use Freeman's Renewing Cucumber Peel-Off Gel Mask. My face always feels refreshed and looks silky smooth after each use.
I like to do my routine at night right before going to bed. It gives me a chance to relax for a good night sleep, which is also important for my skin. So that's all for my facial skincare products.
