I was bummed when I could no longer find the Garnier Fructis Damage Eraser Strength Reconstructing Butter (the one with cupuacu butter). It had been a great replacement for ORS Hair Mayonnaise as my protein treatment as ORS' price wasn't fitting my budget anymore. When the Grow Strong line came out, it really wasn't appealing to me as I was satisfied with the reconstructing butter. But then, I ran out, and I couldn't find it anywhere, not even online. It was like they were getting every hair product that works off the market. I should've stock up on it. Then I went on to try other deep conditioners that weren't quite the same.
I was on Garnier's USA website a few weeks ago and noticed they had a tool where they can recommend treatments based on your hair's needs. This hair mask was in the "repair damaged hair" category, so I decided to get it next time I'd visit the drugstore.
The website didn't instruct on how much to use, so I use a generous amount as I felt like my hair would need it. I deep conditioned with it for 30 mns with two shower caps and a hair towel over them. The product has decent slip. It's light, creamy (not thick, not too runny either), and smells elegant. Love the smell! I could feel how strong my hair had gotten while rinsing the mask off and I like the fact that the smell lingers afterwards.
I feel the product lived up to the claim of leaving my hair feeling strong, healthy and shiny. The smell lingered the whole day the day after I first used it. I feel that my strands were indeed protected. But I didn't feel any moisture... maybe because my hair is low porosity. I also experienced tangles the first time, but the second time not so much as I didn't use as much of the product. I intend to add some oil in it when I use it again in the next couple of weeks. At this point, it's either I keep shopping around or I go back to the basics.
