HAIR JOURNEY UPDATE - 2 YEARS (and 4 months)
So… when I started my hair journey in 2014, I didn’t really
know what I was doing, but I was excited! I had one goal in mind: that my hair
would grow back passed my shoulders again. Did I reach my goal?
I didn't think to take a picture of the back at the time - it was definitely shorter than the front - but here is what the front looked like:

I do have pictures of the back for this date (June 15, 2015) but there were spots on the mirror so I won't post it on here.

I'VE REACHED MY GOAL!!!
I thought it would have taken me 3 – 4 years to accomplish
my goal, taking into account that I wasn’t knowledgeable about hair care and
the setbacks that would result from that.
But thankfully, I still have all of my hair! And I did have setbacks
mostly from relaxer touch-ups. My hair is not damaged; some areas are just less
processed than others. My main focus from now will be to grow these under-processed
parts out by doing more protective styles and do more frequent trims.
What have been working for me are using natural oils on my
scalp, deep conditioning with great products (ORS among others), and low
maintenance styles. That’s what my hair thrives on. I will have a different
post of several things that I’ve been doing, all not related directly to hair, but
that also contributed to my hair growth. Because I’ve learned from experience
it’s a combination of several things that contribute to hair growth. And if I
overcame my (paralyzing) fear of self-relaxing and grew my hair out, I think
anyone can conquer whatever fear they have and grow their hair out. You don’t need a lot of products, you only
need to find the right products for your hair and use them consistently. And you also need to be patient and not compare your hair journey to someone else's, which is a set-up for big disappointments.
I’m in the process of simplifying my hair care routine even
more in order to reduce how much I manipulate my hair, which I will share in a different post once it becomes successful. Until
then, happy hair journey <3!!!
