MY EXPERIENCE WITH CURLFORMERS
I LOVE roller sets! I loved roller sets even before I started my hair journey two years ago. It was the best way to get the silky look without reaching for the blow dryer or flat iron. After my hair got to a certain length last year, I started to use magnetic rollers again, and I was excited to be able to set my hair on rollers again.
I love roller sets because it is also a way to track my hair progress without doing a formal length check with a t-shirt (impossible to do with a pixie cut) or with a measuring tape (I always have trouble seeing the numbers right). And setting my hair on rollers has always been a great way to stretch my new growth to make my hair more manageable.
After some progress in my hair length, I noticed my hair would not be completely dry after I took the magnetic rollers down. Since I've had some curlformers on hand, I decided to try them earlier this year to see how my hair would turn out.
The curlformers I bought are not the "official" curlformers. I bought those on ebay. At the time of purchase, one pack of 10 was for around $3.00 so I bought 4 packs that came around $14.00 in total, taxes included. The ones I purchased were 50cm long and 2.5cm wide (19.69" x 1"); the package they came in wasn't very attractive, so I made sure to sanitize them before storing them for future use.
It was time consuming to install them - I installed 37 of them in 2 hours - but they stretched my new growth way more than my magnetic rollers; and my hair dried quicker. Of course I got more defined curls and the look was more sophisticated (at least to me):
I am not sure how the original Curlformers are during uninstall but mine tugged at my hair a bit and a little hair came out:
Would I use them again? Yes, I would, but only for special events. But for now, I just need to invest in bigger magnetic rollers.
