My Journey with Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner

I had decided to give co-washing with a regular conditioner another try, because for some reason they do not sell any cleansing conditioner in my area (aside from the over-priced Wen), and the environment is too dry to be shampooing every week, even with a baby shampoo. So I decided to try Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner… and I may have found a replacement for my Wen cleansing conditioners!

It all started a couple of weeks ago, when I was looking for a deep conditioner that would be cheaper than the ORS Replenishing Conditioner, and stumbled upon the Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner. I have read so many good reviews about it, but I was a little bit skeptical. So I asked one of my best friends if she had used this conditioner before. She basically sold me on it, describing how soft it made her hair feel. She was using it as a rinse-out conditioner. So I thought “if it made her hair so soft by using it only as a rinse-out conditioner, there should be even greater softness if I deep condition with it.” So I bought a bottle that same afternoon.

I was so excited I couldn’t wait to start using it! I usually do my hair on Sundays, but this time, did it on a Saturday night! It was a co-wash week, so I co-washed with Wen’s lavender cleansing conditioner and deep conditioned with the Tresemme Naturals conditioner. It smelled so good! I was in love! After one hour, I rinsed it out and my hair was really soft. But it didn’t penetrate my hair. After my hair had dried, I concluded the conditioner definitely wasn’t a penetrating one: it just sat there on my hair. I styled my hair as usual the next day, then looked up “surface conditioner” the day after that. That Monday, I discovered not only there are moisturizing and strengthening conditioners, but there are also surface/instant and penetrating conditioners, and Tresemme was one of them. I was bummed L

But I didn’t stay down long; I was already searching for another use for it. I didn’t have any more leave-in conditioner so I decided to use it as a leave-in. I looked up and found a DIY leave-in conditioner recipe, which didn’t leave my hair as soft. So I started using the conditioner as is as a leave-in. During the couple of weeks that followed, my mind was pre-occupied with coming up with a new purpose for this conditioner, among other things of course. So the Friday before last, I just decided to make an ingredient comparison between Wen and Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner.

In short, there is minimal difference between Wen cleansing conditioners and Tresemme Naturals, and Tresemme Naturals’ list of ingredients is shorter. This made me feel pretty confident in using the latter as a cleansing conditioner. So I did… and loved it! When I co-wash with it, I feel this tingling in my scalp, which I never felt before with any other cleansing or regular conditioners. I will be co-washing in a few hours, and I can’t wait to feel this conditioner in my hair, and smell its therapeutic perfume! Hm!

Next time I will write about how I use it as a cleansing conditioner and leave-in.

Until the next post… happy hair journey J!
